Alli Update

From Kristin:
Alli has officially been diagnosed with High Risk Pre B ALL, which has a survival rate of 80-85%. It's a very common type of leukemia in children. She has already gone through several procedures and has started chemo. Alli has also met with a therapist in order to help her better understand what is going on. She also has an IV port, which she will have for 3 years, but it shouldn't interfere with activities such as swimming. She'll also be at Vanderbilt for 3 more weeks before she can go home. Alli is a little sore today, but she is doing well. April and Trey are exhausted and a bit overwhelmed right now. More details and future updates can be found at her website http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/allichildress. Kimberly is managing the website until April is ready to take over.
For anyone who wants to help, there are a few things you can do. More than anything the family needs prayer. Prayer for peace and comfort. Pray that little Alli will experience as little pain as possible during procedures and treatments. Pray for wisdom for the doctors and nurses who are treating her. Please Pray, pray, pray.
Also, April will not be working anymore, and there will definately be medical, travel and other expenses in their future as Alli goes through treatment. Some friends of the Childress family have gotten together to raise support for Trey, April and Alli (if I haven't mentioned, Childress is their last name).

Ryan and India Johnson are in the process of setting up an account at First Commerce Bank for Alli. Some ladies in Lewisburg are also setting up Chili supper benefit on Nov 12th. Details to come!

The Childress family will be back home before we know it and we do not want them to have to go to the store, clean or worry about anything but Alli. So some friends have decided to do a pantry drive. They want to stock them up on  anything they might need. For now I would recommend things like canned chicken, crackers, healthy snacks, nuts, peanut butter and easy items. April probably won't be doing much cooking for a while so it needs to be things they can just grab. They could also use cleaning supplies, antibacterial wipes, ect. Also, Alli wears size 2T-3T Pull Ups so if anyone wants to purchase those or wipes that would be great.

Drop off item locations:
West View Church of Christ  -  Lewisburg
Friday November 5th   9 am - 2 pm

Pediatric Associates of Franklin - 570 Baker's Bridge Ave, Franklin
Saturday November 6th  8 am - 12 pm

Thanks in advance to anyone who contributes to the pantry drive or the bank account. Also, thank you for the thoughts and prayers. I would like to mention, though, that the family does not want any visitors right now other than family. Alli's immune system is very weak and she cannot afford to get sick at this time. April and Trey are also exhausted and overwhelmed, but they do appreciate everything that is being done and for the prayers. If you want to send Alli or her parents a card or letter, send it to:
